Orange Thursday

Right, Blue Monday is well and truly over, but January can be a bit of a rubbish month anyway. So if you’re feeling blue, let’s hope this orange email brightens up your day.

This week, my dear sister, Maud celebrated her birthday (she’s the one who’s done such a great job on our branding), with a show on Radio Relativa, covering songs by fellow Capricorns.

You can take a listen back, here.

The eagle-eyed among you might notice we’ve made a few changes to the menu. In addition to a couple of new items, we’ve also decided to make our pricing inclusive of service charge.

So, instead of adding 12.5% at the end of the meal, it is now incorporated into the price of each dish and drink on the menu.

The reason why is that we feel traditional service charges are outdated and misunderstood.

We believe that introducing #serviceincluded means:

  • the guarantee of staff wages, rather than have them vary according to the seasonality of restaurant change.

  • better opportunities for employees when trying to secure housing and loans, as only base pay is considered.

I can’t say we’re the first restaurant to take this approach, but I do truly believe it is the right way going forward for our staff.

Finally, a special thanks to Armando Iannucci, Patrick Marber, and the team behind, and in Pandemonium (hence the above photo) — who celebrated their wrap party with us, following the run of the political pantomime at the Soho Theatre over the past month.

Right, back to business, hope to see you over on Dean Street soon, a few cocktails and a bowl of pasta will certainly wash away those January blues!

Ciao for now,

Seanie Grasso
